Editorial Intern

We are looking for an Editorial Intern to help out with our blog. This person will provide support in the creation and curation of great, compelling natural hair-focused content.

The Right Fit:

You love staying in the know and on top of the latest and greatest on the natural hair scene. You always have the skinny on the who.what.whair. and want to use your writing skills to share it with everyone.   You’re obsessed with media and technology and excited about working at a beauty startup.You want a chance to use your stellar reporting chops in a sweet gig at CurlScout. Sound like you? Come intern with us!

What You’ll Do:

  • Write/create at least 2-3 blog posts weekly
  • Editorial fact checking
  • Trolling the interwebs for the best videos, infographics, stories, and memes to share with our audience
  • Collaborate with the team to edit the blog posts
  • Brainstorm and pitch new content ideas
  • Maintain editorial calendar
  • Research and contact influencers to grow the blog’s audience
  • Help with PR, email, and social media outreach efforts.
  • Event coverage

Skills/Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college – Junior or Senior preferred
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Journalism
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Sharp analytic and research skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy
  • Consistency in writing style, tone, and voice
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, graphic design, Canva
  • Knowledge/familiarity of WordPress
  • Interest and knowledge of natural hair, culture, lifestyle, beauty & fashion

Video Curation Intern

We are looking for a Video Curation Intern to help out with our blog. This person will provide support in the curation of great, compelling natural hair-focused content.

The Right Fit:

You love watching natural hair YouTuber’s and in the know when it comes to must-watch hair tutorials and products.  You have a deep enthusiasm for finding, sharing and writing about videos from the deepest trenches of the web. Sound like you? Come intern with us!

What You’ll Do:

  • Hunt down the best natural hair style and product review video content from around the web, and create compelling, shareable posts around it
  • Use data to constantly uncover new ways to use posts about viral videos to increase traffic to CurlScout.com
  • Identify and analyze web video trends
  • Collaborate with content creators for data and information gathering about videos to brainstorm new formats to explore

Social Media Marketing Intern

We’re looking for a Social Media Marketing Intern to help us establish a strong social media presence and grow our following across various channels. This role is critical in helping our brand build authentic relationships within the natural hair community.

The Right Fit:

You are obsessed with social media and adept at growing social media followings, naturally. You have extensive understanding of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and  YouTube and connections with social media influencers. If not, you will be resourceful, creative and tireless in building them. You are creative and thoughtful when interacting with online communities and building relationships. You will be responsible for driving positive growth of followers/fans through our social media channels. Ideally, you are internet savvy, resourceful, detail oriented, creative and well written. You are looking for a challenge to hone your skills while you help grow our startup’s social media presence.

What You’ll Do:

  • Consistently generate innovative content to garner attention on various social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Formulate social media strategies tailored to Company needs
  • Assist with development and maintenance of social media calendar
  • Assist Founder in the development of social collateral i.e. posts, videos & photos
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and projects
  • Identify key influencers to align with Company goals
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients in various industries
  • Stay on top of trends for real-time engagement opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Email Marketing Intern

We’re looking for a Email Marketing Intern to help us expand our email list and connections and marketing our product offerings.

The Right Fit:

You are obsessed with building lasting connections and delighting others with unique products and trends.  You are looking for a challenge to hone your marketing skills while you help grow our startup’s digital connections.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage multiple email campaigns
  • Track and record performance of the various email campaigns. Be able to identify any trends which occur and offer a recommended course of action
  • Identify consumer segments to target
  • Develop new channels to help support growth
  • Manage content messaging, communication frequency, and all creative processes
  • Set quantifiable objectives and define best practices
  • Provide leadership through strategic vision
  • Develop email marketing plans around schedules and budgets
  • Constantly analyze results from a campaign to identify problems and make suggestions for future improvement
  • Design and deploy newsletters
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Brand Relations Intern

We’re looking for a Brand Relations Intern who will work closely with the Founder and assist with identifying prospective partners and building relationships with our existing partners. You will focus on plans that maximize both online and off-line partnership opportunities to recruit and introduce our brand partners. The Brand Relations Intern will also assist with developing proposals, perform research for pitches, as well as compose presentations. This position  may require attendance at industry mixers, networking events and conferences.
