CurlFest 2018 Celebrates the Beauty of Natural Hair

There is something special about surrounding yourself with women (and men) who unapologetically embrace and rock their natural strands. CurlFest has given us the sanctuary we never knew we needed, and the annual festival seems to only be getting bigger and better each year. Created by the Curly Girl Collective, the festival this year hosted more than 20,000 women and men.The mecca of all natural hair festivals which took place in Prospect Park in  Brooklyn, NY aims to celebrate natural hair through music, good vibes, positive energy, shopping, food and more .

CurlFest enables attendees to embrace their individuality resulting in a showcase of some of the most killer afros, twist-outs, curls (and beards) you have ever seen. Whether it was huge fros adorned by golden crowns or vibrant hair colors accompanied by flowers and butterflies, the looks were nothing short of breathtaking.

We could not get over the gorgeous crowns created by Blooms by Bee ( founder Sherri B. The perfect accessory for a sunkissed queen.

Face art was a major key at CurlFest. The tribal designs and explosive colors tied in well with the positive energy of the festival.

Curlfriends galore flocked to the festival to hang out, catch up, meet and greet with their fave beauty gurus and let loose.

You can definitely say we were obsessed with the use of nature and flowers as accessories this year at CurlFest. These ladies got the memo and killed it giving us flower child mixed with carefree black girl vibes.

A+ for accessorizing. This group is glowing, and the gold accents are complimenting each one of them flawlessly.

Beautiful artwork was on display by vendors capturing the essence of the festival and the curly queens.

Can we take a moment to fully absorb all this magic in one picture? The festival was flooded with crazy prints and fabrics that captivated every photo. And you know we love a good head wrap!

What a curly cutie. The fanny pack is an essential for any festival look.

Embracing everything about the festival is an understatement for this queen. She even managed to make the rain look inviting. We stan for an improviser! Loving the chunky twist out paired with the wired earring too.

As you can see, this year’s CurlFest was a true celebration of beauty, style, culture and embracing our natural selves. The Curly Girl Collective outdid themselves another year in a row and we certainly look forward to attending next year.
